Legislation Report-June 2015
The New York State Electronic Security Association continues to actively track and monitor legislationthat has an impact on its membership.
Through our government relations firm we are currently tracking over 50 bills and offering our supportor opposition to them through our lobbyist.
The highlight this year so far has to be the signing of the Carbon Monoxide Law for Commercial Buildings. The new law goes into effect this summer and will require all commercial building to have carbon monoxide detectors installed. A detailed presentation will be done at local chapter membership meetings in the coming months. Check with your local chapter for details. (WOW – what a great member benefit!)
We continue to push for the passage in the Assembly of our Evergreen bill. The Senate has passed it previously but we need the Assembly to agree to this beneficial to the consumer change in how contracts are handled in our industry.
